Bamboozle is an English rock/retro swing band, formed in Canterbury, Kent in 2016. It was founded by guitarist and songwriter of The Keytones, Jim Knowler (guitar/vocals), and Singer/Double Bass Player, Serena Sykes (bass/vocals), as a project following the break-up of The Keytones. The group got its name from a football report, when Jim, (an avid Arsenal supporter), read that one player Bamboozled the opposition with a stylish move.
Prior to the recording of Bamboozle’s 2016 debut EP Red Right Hand, pedal steel guitarist Dave Kirk (steel/vocals), formerly of The Ian Highland band and drummer Shaun o’Keeffe (drums/vocals), formerly of The Keytones both joined to complete the line up.
The band initially performed in Kent, UK but quickly expanded to performing throughout the UK and Europe. O’Keefee left the band in early 2017, to be replaced by Darrell Higham’s long-term drummer, Les Curtis (drums/vocals).
Their debut EP featured two original songs by Knowler, which quickly became popular tunes in the bands set, and soon after, Sykes also began writing, debuting her song-writing career with the well-received, ‘Daddy’s Girl’.
The band headlined at Twinwood Festival, Feel The 50’s and Vlissingen Vintage Festival in 2017 and have performed at many notable venues.
They are currently managed by Meredith Cork of Yellow Brick Music, who was the founding manager of the band Garbage, and represented Butch Vig, Womak and Womak, Jimmy Miller, Glen Matlock, Right Said Fred and many more.
Bamboozle are known for their exiting, upbeat music and Sykes’ double bass stunts during performances.
